Bringing in the elements

I've been considering adding an element or two of low potency to the sets that I've generated from the acid alkali list of Duncan.

I've avoided them for a really long time - the plant remedies have no aggravations as bad and I've found that more peaceful than anything else to heal with. But I don't know if it is enough - I can't avoid the elements forever. I'm considering just adding an element along with the 5 plant remedies or else doing just a set of elements for a day, a week or so.

Haven't made up my mind yet. But I know I've got to start on the elements, nosodes or isodes soon. There may be a world of healing in them for the dogs and I don't want my fears to prevent them from reaching it.

Two days ago, Stripes, a frequently hungry mama cat, drew Fluoric Ac 6. I was surprised. In this chart it is the most acidic of the elements. According to Duncan, acidic animals need to eat more often than alkaline. After giving her the remedy, she is less frequent in begging for food. It all makes sense.

But I'm wondering how many others would benefit from being given an element or two to restore their bodies to a less famished state on the streets. This is the reason I think adding an element or two would bring them balance and some peace.

9 Remedies +3

20 Jun: R.I.P. The kitten with jaundice below died. Vomiting and probably at night. I saw it the previous evening eating lustily even though it would always vomit every piece that hit its stomach. I think Ignatia might have saved it (eating well when sick). Too late now.

27 May update: closer to New Moon this list went for a six - only Phytolacca and Thuja remain active. So I'm using other remedies too.

30 May: The primary additional remedies for the New Moon are Allium Sat 3 and Sabadilla 10m (Liliaceae), Kreosotum 6, 200 (Fagaceae), Mezereum (Thymalaceae) and Capsicum (Solanaceae).

One little kitten is drawing Lycopodium 6 (Mosses & Fungi) and Spongia Tosta 30 (Sea Remedy). He's the undersized one who pukes the frothy vomit that almost choked him last night. Probably acidity and an intestinal flora problem.
I'm down to 9 remedies with the right profile. Phytolacca, Pusatilla, Rhododendron, Thuja, Terebinth, China, Belladonna, Nux vom and Dulcamara.

I've put together the list giving preference to those remedies I've used in the last couple of months but its the first time I've reduced the numbers to below 10! Usually I'm rooting through 50-odd remedies trying to find one that pulses for the sick dogs, then I'm terrified I won't find the next remedy. This time I'm fairly tension-free and plan to use only these for the months of May-Jun.:)

Most of them have been great for the animals - Phytolacca was my first successful remedy two years ago; then Terebinth with dying dogs, Pulsatilla with lame dogs more recenty and Rhododendron has been a superstar this last month helping the animals deal with the weather change. Thuja has done one dog good with a large tumor on its hip. China I've used last full moon, but I'm not sure what it did.

The only ones I haven't used at all are Nux vom, Belladonna and Dulcamara. The last two I've associated with really bad experiences - at least I've associated dogs dying at the time of their use (sometimes I wonder if that was just my perception of events). Fingers crossed that this won't happen again.

I'd given up on miasms as a working theory, but these remedies are all Sycotic or related to Gonorrhea or Cancer. Maybe I'll return to try and understand miasms again when I have healed them completely.

The first three remedies that have drawn energy on this Moon day, 15, Full Moon today, are China 30, Thuja 30 and Belladonna 30. (I must say I'm a little nervous about this idea since the remedies are drawing energy very mildly, and after this dose, they're drawing it even lower in 3x and 6x potencies!)

Higher potencies @ Full Moon, Lower @ New Moon

From yesterday the potencies have abruptly jumped in strength. It is only 2 days after the new moon. From only having used below 30 for a week or more, I'm now seeing the dogs and cats draw upto 10m. So I checked the charts of last month. Guess what?!

In the April and May remedies I noticed that the potencies go higher and higher towards full moon and low from the day after Full moon and especially Last Quarter to New Moon. So maybe this is the right way to look at potencies - that when our bodies are in excitation the higher potencies work better, and when our bodies are sluggish, lower potencies apply.

Good guideline for me to work by.

Elements - Duncan's acid and alkaline remedies

Here's his list. I haven't checked them out on the animals yet, but I took Tellurium 6x (one of his acid remedies) 6 hours ago and I'm still getting acid bile in my mouth from it. So seems ok.:)

New Moon acidity = decay

I've got a new insight into using homeopathy with Duncan's list.
1. New moon time is acidic for unhealthy animals - they decay because acidity=decay. This is new knowledge for me - I used to think only of Full Moon acidity. Acidity during the full moon leads to inflammation, during the New Moon it leads to decay.

2. Remember how I was saying that we can use all the elements only in the full moon cycle? I was wrong.

What confused me was that I would often find that there were element remedies that would work quite well in the new moon cycle as well - just in no particular order that matched the periodic table. For eg., Mag mur and Mag Sulph worked great virtually all the time, but they wouldn't draw Mag carb or mag phos at all. I gave up on figuring it out then.

Duncan's list has Mag mur (and probably Mag sulph) as an acid but Mag carb and Mag phos as alkaline. Now that makes sense to me from my experience, but not adding to my understanding from the periodic table.

He does make sense in terms of electropositivity (alkalinity) on the left of the table and electronegativity (acidity) on the right end. That is my understanding of the chemistry. That acidity increases down the table and left to right.

I agree with him that the halogens and the Nats and Kalis (the two extremes) behave differently - that is my experience too. And another thing that I've noticed that Duncan's list reflects is how the elements switch their e value alternately.

Plant remedies - Duncan's acid and alkaline

Despite us taking different routes, it looks like Duncan and I have hit upon more or less the same plant remedies. His list coincides with a lot of what I use, except that I use them at different times of the moon cycle (and with  more confusion). This is a big relief to me. I like my picks to be confirmed as good ones, at least the basic plant groups.:p

Still, I'd like to check these out with the kittens and puppies before I conclude that he's got it right. (I know that Boger's moon remedy list and my own grew apart and had nothing in common in a couple of months.)

Alkaline and borderline cases - puppies and kittens

Here's the next part of Duncan's theory - Alkaline puppies and the Acid-alkaline puppy (where the bias isn't extreme):

Alkaline puppies or electropositive:
  • Alkaline remedies are indicated and curative for the excessively alkaline puppies.
  • Alkaline puppies with inflammation of the brain, effusion and coma would suggest such remedies as Gelsemium, Belladonna Veratrum viride, Arnica, Opium, Apis.
  • In bowel disorders: For the alkaline puppies, Kali, Hepar sulphuris, Belladonna, Tartar emeticus.
  • For alkaline puppies select from Nux vomica, Mercurius, Kali, Calcarea, Chamomilla, Dulcamara, Alumina.
  • In diseases of the skin: the moist eruptions or pustules of the alkaline puppies need such alkaline remedies as Calcarea, Baryta, Mercurius, Dulcamara. I would place in this list Graphites, although Hering places it in the acid list.
  • Evening aggravation of the same (diarrhoea) indicates the alkalies or electropositive drugs ; with coughs the reverse is the case.
  • An aggravation in the morning indicates the alkalies. Midnight to noon.
  • alkaline: pale lips, thin puppies, large distended stomach, secretes large amount of gastric juice, strongly acid. Acidity means decay.
  • In Infancy: all of the secretions but two have an alkaline reaction.
  • the infantile digestion is chiefly intestinal. The amount of work the infantile liver has to perform is enormous, as the bile stream has to emulsify and saponify the large amount of milk taken by the pup to get it ready for absorption. This biliary flow has a double alkaline reaction and gives alkalinity to the whole system, and this alkalinity is, or should be, the normal condition for many years.
  • The chemical composition of the bile, as far as ascertained, is the cholate and taurate of soda (biliverdin, bilirubin), cholestrin, etc.  Cholestrin is the debris of the nerve fat, and no doubt aids the emulsifying of the milk fat. Biliverdin and rubin give color to the bile derived from the coloring matter of the blood.
  • The reaction of the pancreatic juice is strongly alkaline, due to the presence of sodium carbonate. It also contains much albumin, sodium chloride and lime.
  • The food of the infant, mother's milk, is, we know, normally of an alkaline reaction. Aside from the water, butter and sugar of milk we have also casein with salts of potassium, soda and lime to digest and absorb.
  • The next set of glands that come into activity is the salivary. This also has an alkaline reaction, as do also the intestinal juices. The base of the saliva is supposed to be the sulphocyanide of potassium. Thus we see that about the sixth month, when the teething process is active, that the alkaline secretions are reinforced. It is found by Prof. Sonsina that a pup cannot completely digest starch until it is over ten months of age.
  • hydrogenoid, worse from cold air
  • We see that, chemically speaking, the healthy pup is alkaline. Externally it presents a plump, rosy appearance.
  • Feeding alkaline puppies: In these cases it is the fatty acids that poison, they need close watching. A dose of sour milk will poison them so that the wasting in a few hours is alarming. The tendency in these puppies is to the gastric catarrh, as we have seen, and this is increased by fatty acids liberated in the stomach. For this reason, as they grow older, although oatmeal gruel and milk is a good diet, still if the meal is not fresh and the milk at all stale it sours on the stomach and the pup is made sick. Cream food does not usually agree with these puppies, but corn starch well cooked and added to the milk iisually agrees when they are young. "

Hydrogenoid (alkaline)
Remedies: Gauber's salt (nat sulph)
Remedies: Natriim nitricum, NatriiDi carboniciim, Acetate of soda and Sal. ammoniac especially belong here (to the hydrogenoid) ; moreover, in this series we may mention as nutritionremedies Calcarea carbonica Magnesia carb. and phos Silicea then, and for other reasons adduced. Iodine Bromine Chlorine Nitric acid Natriim viuriaticiim Borax Antimony Alum, Thuja, Carbo, Arnica, Aranea diad., Pulsatilla, Nux vomica with Ipecac or Arsenic in alternation, Conium, Apis, Spigelia and animal food.
Pregnant females: Alkaline salts of Sodium, magnesium, pottassium.
Diseases: spinal hyperamia, the other form of tuberculosis (!!?)
Puppies that are acid-alkaline or neutral:

  • When the pup bias is not extreme and such remedies as Hepar sulphuris, Calcarea iodium, Mercurius iodatus, Calcarea phosphorus, etc., are indicated by the symptoms we would expect, as we doubtless get, a more marked action of the element in the remedy that corresponds to the constitution of the pup. For example, the action of Sulphur, Iodine and Phosphorus would be more marked in the acid than in the alkaline one. We see here a possible explanation why Baryta carb. is such an efficient one in the chronic enlarged glands in excessively fleshy subjects.

Carbonnitrogenous constitution (neutral or go both ways)
Remedies: ozone or ozone water itself its most powerful remedy.
Here belong also all substances which expel carbon and nitrogen and take up ozone or transfer it to others and excite oxygen, or stand in similar chemical or physical relation to it, viz.: Copper, Phosphorus, Sulphur, Gold, Silver, Lead, Platina, Ethereal oils, Turpentine, Rhus, Dulcamara, Chamomilla, Lycopodium, Bovista, Belladonna, even Nux vomica, but given alone. Digitalis, Hyoscyamus, Opium, Lobelia injlata.'\
tissue builders like Sulphur, Calc Phos, Calc Sulph
